The Image of Autochtony
Autochtony is a concept which you hear a lot about. It has become a very fashionable word, but when people use it their interpretation is very personal. Within a project with a fellow student we found that it has a lot to do with being connected to the place you come from. Being rooted somewhere.
The result was this image. The feeling of autochtony is that you are so connected to the earth that you become one with it. The image communicates a very deep, personal and powerful connection. It also shows a hint of a negative side: the inability to easily move away from a place where you are autochtonous
